About

In 2019, Web Platforms/Services (WPS)  started this survey project to identify the unmet needs and pain points of people who create and manage content online at UW—Madison. The goal was to use this information to help make informed decisions about how to improve our services.

People

A main driver for this project was being able to learn about the people who do website related work on campus. As a collective institute, we can work together to design better experiences for everyone.

Collaboration

WPS isn’t the only group that provides web services and support on campus — this site was created to share our insights with the broader campus community, and to invite more conversation and collaboration around the topic.

Continuous research

We use a mixed-method approach of quantitative and qualitative efforts to help strengthen and expand our findings. From DNS scans, surveys, and user interviews, we continue to grow and enhance this research each year.

Collaborators

We’ve partnered with different groups across campus to help conduct this research, expand our findings, and understand the broader website needs beyond our own individual services.
